Suzhou is reputed as the "City of Gardens", with a popular belief that "the gardens in Jiangnan are the best in the world, while the gardens in Suzhou are the best in Jiangnan". Suzhou classical gardens integrate pavilions, springs, stones, flowers and trees to simulate natural scenery, creating an ideal space of "mountains and forests in an urban setting" that allows urban residents to lead a "life close to nature". These man-made gardens reflect such excellent workmanship as if they are the masterpiece of Nature itself.
